Frown Of Thorns
Pity Diego Moreno. Wanting to enjoy a nice Spring day down in Argentina this past weekend, he along with two friends embarked upon a bike ride through rustic City Park on the outskirts of metropolitan Buenos Aires and it turned into one he’ll not soon forget. Riding at the back of the pack, Diego still doesn’t have a full recollection of what caused his derailment other than the fast and furious appearance of a small bedeviling pothole. That’s precisely when inertia and gravity took over sending hapless Diego hurling head-first into a proud, steely-eyed, disapproving lineup of cacti tightly toeing the roadway. Well, pain, agony, embarrassment and thousands of barbed thorns painted him unbelievably head-to-toe. Naturally his friends and drivers-by stopped and circled Diego in a concerted effort to help. But sensing futility at the delicate process necessary to properly de-thorn Diego roadside, a decision was quickly made to transport Diego to a local hospital in seeking professional help. But the good news is that Diego was given anesthetic medicine and his cactus embrace was expertly unwound. Upon release from the hospital and asked to comment on his ordeal, Diego wistfully quipped that he harbored NO regrets and remains enamored with the humorous raw natural beauty that IS Buenos Aires and her expert landscaper, Mother Nature. Touche!
